Bendable MCPCB can free your imagination and innovation! Bendable MCPCB simplifies complex assembly, straightforward optic design, easily achieves omnidirectional LED, and enhances product reliability.
Comparing Bendable MCPCB to traditional MCPCB is similar to FPC compared to rigid board. They have one characteristic in common – “flexibility”. Despite the materials being different, all processes are almost identical. Besides the material difference in nature, the newly added process is the “Bending” process. This is a very common process in the traditional mechanical industry but not seen in PCB fabrication.
A consumer product is the largest application for MCPCB, especially, the LED lighting market. Bendable MCPCB has two major benefits in this application. First, improving energy efficiency, and second, reducing the cost of assembly & complications. LED light applications are made with traditional MCPCB, especially LED light bulbs. When replacing long-lasting incandescent, its divergence angle cannot match its predecessor. It becomes a barrier that traditional LED lamps virtually cannot overcome. In order to achieve omnidirectional that close to incandescent, LED lamps made with traditional MCPCB must utilize soldering & wiring techniques to connect components piece by piece to create a spheroid lighting source. This approach demands expensive manufacturing costs and complicated components assembly. Thanks to the introduction of bendable MCPCB, making omnidirectional LED becomes the real successor of century-long product – incandescent, in terms of energy-saving and light performance.

The evolution of electronic devices or appliances is continuing the trend of moving toward miniature and thinner. Because of becoming smaller and thinner, in some designs, the heat dissipation had become the obstacle and limitation. Standard MCPCB has greater heat dissipation performance than FR-4. However, for some thinner applications incorporating an external heat sink is a tough challenge to integrate due to spacing issues. Thanks to bendable MCPCB, extending or enlarging of bendable copper or aluminum plate, the necessity of an additional heat sink could be offset. When an additional heat sink is a must, it can be re-position in a roomy and better location by adopting bendable MCPCB.
